| I handsculpt this unique barrette from extremely rare and beautiful Serpentwood (Piratinera guianensis). I then add a gorgeous genuine amber cabochon in a wonderful hand-made sterling silver setting with intricate rope detailing. The amber cabochons sits a full 1/4 inch above the surface of the barrette, is easily viewable from all sides, and looks just great when the light passes through it!
Also called Letterwood and Nakedwood, The appearance of serpentwood is similar to that of snakeskin, red-brown with black speckles and stripes. It's sometimes also spotty like leopard spots, or speckled with interesting peculiar markings. It's one of the rarest and most expensive woods in the world!
This barrette is 2 3/4" long on a 2 1/4"" inch long clip (a size small) and would be great for pulling back a portion of your hair. |
