| I hand sculpt this beautiful wood barrette out of one of the most rare and exotic woods in the world, Pink Ivory (Rhamnus zeyheri). The beautiful pink color of this unique wood forms a lovely backdrop for the darling sterling silver hand inlaid Blue Opal sweetheart setting that is the focal point for this barrette. It's very feminine with lovely detailing - just darling! If you would like a matched pair of these barrettes to wear on either side of the head I will be happy to create them for you.
Pink Ivory - no, not the tusk from a pink elephant, :) but a beautiful wood from from Mozambique, Africa. Pink Ivory, with its watermelon pink coloring and lovely grain figure, is extremely rare and very difficult to find. It's called "the royal wood of the Zulus" because of its importance in local customs.
This barrette is 2 3/4" long on a 2 1/4"" inch long clip (a size small) and would be great for pulling back a portion of your hair. |
