| I hand sculpt this beautiful barrette out of one of the most rare and exotic woods in the world, Pink Ivory (Rhamnus zeyheri). The beautiful pink color of this unique wood forms a lovely backdrop for the darling sterling silver hand inlaid elegant opal setting that is the focal point for this barrette.
The opal setting is completely hand crafted with 8 pieces of individually hand cut lab Opal and inlaid sterling silver lines creating a geometric design in the center of the piece. The opal on this barrette has the most wonderful fire and shines with lovely warm shades of pink, peach, and green as the light hits it.
Pink Ivory - no, not the tusk from a pink elephant, :) but a beautiful wood from from Mozambique, Africa. Pink Ivory, with its watermelon pink coloring and lovely grain figure, is extremely rare and very difficult to find. It's called "the royal wood of the Zulus" because of its importance in local customs.
This barrette is 3 3/4" long on a 3 1/2" inch long clip (a size - medium) and will work well for most hair types. |
