Andalusite is definitely a collector's gemstone. It's a pleochroic stone which means that it has different colors when viewed from different directions! Usually gem cutters try to minimize this phenomena but Andalusite is the opposite: cutters try to orient the gem to get a pleasing mix of colors. When they succeed, andalusite looks unlike any other gemstone, with patterns of peach, green, red and brown colors dancing around the facets. The length of these earrings is 2 1/4" inch including the ear wires. |
