| I hand carve this 5" inches long hair comb out of rich plum colored Purpleheart (Peltogyne gen.) from South America. I then add a stunning gem grade wine tourmaline cabochon in a elegant hand-made sterling silver setting. I oxidized, brushed and carefully polished by hand the sterling in this piece to add a little rustic character and accent the details in the setting. The tourmaline cabochon sits a full 3/8 inch above the surface of the barrette and is easily viewable from all sides.
