| Here's a elegant and feminine comb! I hand sculpted this haircomb pair out of one of the most rare and exotic woods in the world, Pink Ivory (Rhamnus zeyheri) with wonderful warm peach and pink coloring.
The centerpiece of the hair comb is the lovely hand-crafted sterling silver Inlaid Opal setting. It was completely hand crafted by Navaho silversmiths in the USA with no less than 10 pieces of individually hand cut and inlaid opal and melon shell, all accented with sterling silver lines creating a striking geometric design in the center of the piece. The outside edge of the setting is hand cut sterling with veins that look like feathering. The workmanship in this setting is absolutely outstanding! It's big and beautiful - 3/4" tall and almost 5/8"across and it's a soft peach color that is the perfect accent to the pink ivory.
Pink Ivory - no, not the tusk from a pink elephant, :) but a beautiful wood from from Mozambique, Africa. Pink Ivory, with its watermelon pink coloring and lovely grain figure, is extremely rare and very difficult to find. It's called "the royal wood of the Zulus" because of its importance in local customs. At just over 4 1/2" inches in length, this hair comb would fit most hair types nicely, but will work especially well for fine hair or to pull part of the hair back.
